A Crafty International Women’s Day at Aberfeldy!
Aberfeldy Centre celebrated IWD with some great activities, including free workshops hosted by Sunny Jar Eco Hub!
Sunny Jar Eco Hub celebrated International’s Women’s Day with Aberfeldy Community Centre, running free workshops for the local community. They had a ball creating crafty birds, learning about the many different uses of bicarbonate soda and enjoyed some warming cups of fruit peel and nettle tea!
Participants learned hand sewing techniques in their bird making upcycling workshop, inspired by Charlotte Bronte’s quote “I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will”. Using fabric scraps and old socks, we made some beautiful decorations for the home. Kids joined in on the fun, creating their own cardboard birds and other masterpieces, with old newspapers and magazines. In addition, natural cleaning tips were shared, as well as an easy but effective homemade glue recipe. Throughout the morning, the Hub shared their philosophy of reducing and reusing and their mission to reduce waste and live more lightly.
